ABOUT US

Govinda’s vegetarian restaurants are known worldwide for their delicious and nutritious vegetarian food. We invite you to visit one of our Phoenix Durban restaurants and see for yourself how delicious vegetarian food can actually be.

Our aim is to provide fresh, nutritious meals at affordable prices. We serve a wide variety of pure vegetarian cuisine which is freshly cooked on the premises throughout the day. All of our products are meat, fish and egg freewith many dishes suitable for vegans too. We do not use onions, garlic or mushrooms. When you walk into the restaurant ,  you are amidst an oasis of tranquility, health and balance.

We are yet to come across someone who has been able to resist the lure of the sweet dish counter! We have a selection of English treats such as home-made ice cream, cheesecakes and gateaux or try traditional Indian items such as sweet rice, laddhu (gram flour sweets) and barfis (condensed milk balls).

Karma Free Diet

Our restaurant also has an additional unique feature: all our preparations are first offered to Lord Krishna before being served and are thus called prasadam which means the Mercy of God. Dine in Govinda´s for a truly blessed and karma-free experience!

Take a piece of mercy with you

All of our menu items are available as take-away, so even if you are in a rush or have just popped out from the office to grab a bite, you can experience the mercy of Lord Krishna!

A Magnamous, plush and spiritually uplifting place to be. You can have lunch. Purchase clothing and simply take time out to relax.

I used to love this place beyond measure. In the last few years service , quality and hygiene standards have dropped. I overlooked this once or twice but can't anymore. The front staff now use their hands to take the foods and place in packets. They no longer use utensils. You don't get a receipt anymore just a credit card print out. Very often you pay but what you pay for is not in your packet or its been given to someone else.Typical example I was there on Monday evening. There was one server so we waited near 10 mins for the person to complete their order . No other servers. I ordered some Katchoris the server used his hand and I asked are you no longer using utensils. He nodded in agreement. This was after he took money (cash) used the till, opened the fridges etc and touched alot of different things. It's not the first time another front staff took chips and placed in a packet using her hands. It's made me rethink my enthusiasm on coming here.I also find that if you are not a devotee very often the attitude or reception is very different towards you. The value of our rand is the same and i feel the treatment should be the same too.
